KISS: 10 rules for the winner

I often read, and see many people being wacko when it comes to weight gain/ loss, diet, timing, macros, lean mass, protein powders, exercises, rest,  nutrition…..

Needless to say, I also lost hours of sleep doing research, double-checking my macro calculations, my deficit, my surplus, my stuff, my other stuff, my other other stuff about my diet..

I had nights filled with nightmares about a day I could have missed, about a loss I would have been able to optimize, waking up several times in the middle of the night, sweating about my macro calculations.

Now the more I read, the more I dig about subjects (hormonal changes, genes adaptation, metabolism, cell behaviourism, genetic dispositions, biological adaptations) and the more I go back to the same point : what the **** ?

In fact, many look for the most complicated things, to sometimes miss the most simple evidence : Keep It Simple And Stupid. 

First KISS : thermodynamic

The old stuff : calories IN vs calories out.
Per-gram macro repartition is fine-tuning, and a useless obsession. Keep your nutrients in mind, eat more, eat less, sorted.

Second KISS : spare me the clean eating

With the exception of trans fats, eat what pleases you, when it pleases you, as long as you hit your macro-nutrients.

Third KISS : can a day ruin everything ?

Yes, in 24 hours you gained all the pounds you are trying to lose today. Many feel bad and guilty after they “binged” – welcome to an imperfect world full of imperfect humans, maybe you would gain from a binge, maybe not. Guess what ? you’ll never have the answer. As long as you remain active…try to enjoy.

Fourth KISS : is/ does/ what/ please/ ?

The answer is, you already have the answers.

Fifth KISS : I did this and I gained

Again, welcome to an imperfect world. You must have read a ton of things that you yourself applied without knowing why. That’s your issue, don’t blame your 6th meal of the day or your pre-workout protein shakes.

Sixth KISS : carbs/ no carbs

Thermodynamics- spare me the fuss about the method. Yes, some things work better than others, but what are we talking about? Speeding things up in a week or a couple of hours here and then ? Ain’t a contest, no rush.

Seventh KISS : spare me the technical words

People have insulin issues, so they eat protein for their amino-acids and lipolysis against muscle loss and their ghrelin lowers so they put protein powders in their shakers during their refeed days.

Understand what you are doing, it will help you to know where to go.

Eighth KISS : if it works for you…

Don’t copy others.

Ninth KISS : it it doesn’t work for you…

Instead of googling, work your ass off, again and again.

Tenth KISS : how do I know if it works ? What is my BF?

A lot of people keep having doubts about what they are doing, and they end up by tweaking their diet and workouts three times a week.
The more you are consistent in your routine (which is already solid) the more you’ll see changes.

Don’t try to lose weight for losing weight, or to make your scale happy – know your goals.

Last KISS : eat to live, don’t live to eat

Enjoy the parties, see your friends, have a beer, don’t miss the best moments in your Life, convinced that you are better than others because you stick to your diet. True moments don’t last, a couple of pounds here and there do.

Do you go to disneyland to say that you’ve been there ?
